Tribunal 45 is a serious game about the International Military Tribunal in Nuremberg. You take on the role of lawyer Aline Chalufour, who works for the French prosecution during the first Nuremberg Trial.
Engage in conversations with people involved in the proceedings, sort documents, and make decisions on moral and legal questions: Who should be indicted? Who bears responsibility? In which language should witnesses be allowed to testify? With every decision, your understanding grows that law is always negotiated and that the path to justice, then as now, is never an easy one.
The game was developed for Memorium Nuremberg Trials, an exhibition above the original courtroom in which the trials happened. Additionally to the game, the app also contains the screen reader compatible audio guide for exhibition.
Playing History needed a programmer to kickstart the development of this game/audio guide app. I worked together with the designers and artists to finish a version that included all the necessary functionality with a functional UI, and onboarded their programmer so they can continue to work on the project.
Features I worked on included:
- Setting up the structure for the whole project.
- An audio guide featuring:
- Multi-language support for text, audio and video
- Downloadable media asset packages (including the selection/download UI and the workflow to create the packages)
- Browsing and playing the audio/video content in the packages
- Full screen reader compatibility and other accessibility features
- A 2D game featuring:
- A scrollable map with interactable elements and a navmesh-based 2D crowd simulation
- Two mahjong-style mini games
- Saving/loading of the current state
- Prompts for player input, including online statistics of what other players have chosen
- Conversation dialogue boxes with voice over
- Multi-language support for text and audio
